Area Police
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior representative said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
